It’s not just the Dutch.
Even though it’s highly illegal ( felony illegal) here to set off fireworks, much less like a jackass. The cops are fine looking the other way when you’re safe about it. But of course, people aren’t.
Last year the folks two streets over successfully damaged a 230KV transmission line tower with what had to have been a dozen 500 gram repeaters .
Thankfully the juvenile delinquent that spent all of June and July blowing up trash cans, cars, and cats (I wish I was joking) will be in prison till long after I move out of this neighborhood.

I was in Denmark for New Year 2016. I can only describe it as sounding like a small war.

This.is.not.a.healthy.way.to.celebrate.
It is a perfect way to thin the herd*
*as long as the only victims are the perpetrators

Its a fun way to celebrate tho
The deaths are usually the perps but bystanders get injured often enough

Did NYE in Amsterdam for y2k and 2001. Absolutely the best street partying. Watch out for the brick of firecrackers randomly dropped on the sidewalk. Have video with police leaning on their vans casually while chaos and fireworks ensue. Just the best
